Texas Pecan Pie Specifically
Every state has a pecan pie, but the Texas version — and ours is squarely in that tradition — leans heavier on the nuts. Where some recipes give you a custard with pecans on top, ours is built with pecans almost layered throughout, so every forkful gets a crunch. The custard itself is brown-sugar-based with plenty of butter, a good splash of vanilla, and enough salt to keep the sweetness from taking over.
When To Buy A Whole One
Thanksgiving, obviously — we sell hundreds of whole pies in the week before. Christmas, obviously. But also: small office parties (serves 8 comfortably), birthdays where someone said "I'm not a cake person," and any time you want to show up to a potluck as the undisputed winner. Call ahead a day if you want guaranteed availability during holidays.
Pairings
A cup of hot coffee, an optional scoop of vanilla ice cream, and silence while you eat. That's it. Don't complicate pecan pie.
